Mr. Alton Washington Brigmond, of Douglas, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the age of 76 following a lengthy illness. 

 

 

He was born Sunday, September 14, 1947 in Douglas, Georgia to the late Allen Linzy Brigmond and Ruth Carter Brigmond. Mr. Brigmond served our country honorably for two years in the United States Army. He later became a dispatcher in the trucking industry and was employed by Walmart Distribution Center in Douglas, Georgia. Mr. Brigmond was of the Baptist faith and was an active member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Pearson, Georgia. Along with his parents, Mr. Brigmond was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Frankie Sadie Watson Brigmond; a brother: Allen Brigmond and a sister: Shirley B. Smith. 

 

 

Mr. Brigmond is survived by his children: Tracy B. Harrison and husband Junior of Douglas, Georgia, Vickie B Chandler and husband Steve of Douglas, Georgia; 9 Grandchildren: D.J., Breanna, Faith, Cody, Halee, Tiffany, Scotty, Waylon, Christopher; 17 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Sisters: Francis B. Bennett, Debra B. Stone, Luzene B. Soles, and Janice B. Smith. Several nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive. 

 

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:40 PM, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Ricketson Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service and interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Salem Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery in Douglas, Georgia with his grandson, D. J. Leavens officiating. 

 

 

Active pallbearers will be: D.J. Leavens, Waylon Deen, Scotty Waldron, Cody Hyers, Christopher Brigmond, and Joseph DeCosta. 

 

 

Condolences may be left for the family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
