On a picturesque Friday morning, the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce gathered to celebrate a significant milestone at Still Waters Outreach, a longstanding community partner. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the introduction of new leadership, bringing fresh energy and commitment to the organization.

JoAnne Lewis, the founder of Still Waters who answered the Lord’s call to service a decade ago, stood proudly alongside the newly appointed leadership team. The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome from Chelsea Preston, Member Relations Director at the Chamber, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the community.

JoAnne Lewis, the heart and soul of Still Waters, shared her journey, reminiscing about their grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony nine years ago. Today, as Still Waters enters its 10th year, the organization is poised for growth and prosperity, embracing a new and exciting chapter.

Pastor Richard Baker, the newly appointed President of Still Waters, led a heartfelt invocation, blessing the establishment and expressing gratitude for the Lord’s provision. Pastor Baker recounted his connection with JoAnne and the Still Waters team, emphasizing the divine blessing woven into his own story. Recognizing the need for a dedicated team, he welcomed Magen and Phil Anderson, experienced leaders from Tyler, Texas, to oversee the day-to-day operations.

Magen, with a Master’s degree in psychology, assumes the role of Executive Director and Counselor, while Phil serves as the Director of Operations. The Andersons shared their personal journey of overcoming addiction, expressing their deep commitment to serving others in the same way they once needed guidance.

Mayor Tony Paulk extended his congratulations to the new team, and referencing Psalm 23, emphasized the importance of having a place that feels like “still waters” in the face of life’s challenges. Matt Seale, CEO of the Chamber and Economic Development Authority, highlighted the unity of the Douglas and Coffee County community in supporting such a vital organization.

Still Waters Outreach is now under the leadership of Pastor Richard Baker, Magen Anderson, and Phil Anderson. Their office is located at 2699 Hwy. 221 North in Douglas, and they can be reached at 912-260-3145.
