The Keep Douglas Beautiful Committee, Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce, and City of Douglas held ribbon cuttings for the Little Libraries located at Eastside Park, Wheeler Park, Madison Avenue Park, and Emma Ward Park on December 5 and December 12, 2023. The Little Libraries initiative hopes to promote literacy and foster a sense of community throughout Douglas.

“Little Libraries have become cherished fixtures in communities, providing free access to books and encouraging a lifelong love of reading,” says Dinitra Williams, KDB President. “We hope the Little Libraries initiative will continue to grow.”

Retired educators and neighborhood volunteers are needed to help support this initiative by assisting with maintenance and stocking of books for the project. If you are interested in helping with the Little Libraries in your neighborhood park, please contact Dinitra Williams (912) 331-9398 or Christian at (912)383-0277.

Special thanks to Little Libraries partners: City of Douglas, Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce, Coffee County Community Foundation, Douglas Lions Club, Black Stone Builders, Douglas Utilities Department, Haley Randleman with Coffee County Middle School 8th grade art students, Rebecca Waldroup with George Washington Carver Freshman Campus 9th grade art students, Coffee County Schools, and the Douglas community.
