A 47-year-old Douglas woman is in jail after she allegedly stole a CashApp card from a friend and withdrew nearly $800 from ATMs at two local convenience stores.

An officer was dispatched to a Lupo Lane address on December 4, 2023, where the complainant told the officer that Geneva Graham, 47, of Douglas, had stopped by and spent about an hour at her home, according to a report from the Douglas Police Department. The next day, the complainant said in the report, she noticed that her CashApp card was missing and nearly $800 was gone from her CashApp account.

The officer visited Graham, the report states, and she said she didn’t take the card. In the meantime, the victim contacted CashApp and found that the card had been used at an ATM at Mack’s Minit Mart on McDonald Road and the Gate store near Wendy’s. At Mack’s, the card was used to withdraw $126, $106, $126, and $126. All transactions were conducted within two hours of each other. At Gate, the card was used three times — $105.50, $305.50, and $105.50 — all within two minutes of each other. The $305.50 transaction didn’t go through, the report says, due to insufficient funds. At Mack’s, surveillance video showed that the person using the card was wearing a grey hoodie and carrying a pink purse — a purse that looked just like a pink purse the officer had seen at Graham’s home earlier.

According to the report, the officer returned to where Graham was staying and spoke with her again. The officer searched the home and found the pink purse and the grey hoodie. The officer also found a wallet that contained nearly $200 in cash.

Graham was arrested and charged with seven counts of identity fraud and eight counts of financial transaction card theft. She was taken to the Coffee County Jail where she remains.
