Low Country Cancer Care, a community oncology practice that is part of American Oncology Network (AON) (Nasdaq: AONC), has partnered with Bacon County Hospital and Health System to open its new clinic in Alma. The clinic is currently providing patient care one day a week on Wednesdays and is located at 207 South Wayne Street, on the Bacon County Hospital campus.
“It is our honor to open a clinic in Alma so that we can provide more convenient access to quality cancer care and services to patients in this area,” said Asit Jha, MD, Board-certified medical oncologist at Low Country Cancer Care who will be the primary physician seeing patients at the Alma clinic. “We believe that this new location will make it easier for patients to receive the care they need without having to travel long distances for appointments and treatments.”
The clinic’s design ensures that patients receive the privacy and comfort they deserve when meeting with the physician and during treatment sessions. With one to two private exam rooms for one-on-one consultations with Dr. Jha and members of the clinical staff and two to three infusion chairs for administering therapies, the clinic is equipped to meet the diverse needs of patients undergoing cancer care.
Joining Dr. Jha at the clinic are the practice’s Board-certified nurse practitioners Ann Hinson, FNP-C, and Aaron Houser, FNP-C. “Our goal at Low Country Cancer Care is to provide compassionate and comprehensive cancer care that is tailored to the individual needs of each of our patients, and this remains true at our Alma clinic,” said Dr. Jha. “We will work closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan that is right for them and then provide the support they need throughout their cancer journey. We are excited to be part of the Alma community and look forward to serving residents of this area.”
The Alma clinic is the practice’s eighth location in the region, serving as an extension of the Waycross clinic. The practice includes a group of specialized medical oncologists and hematologists who are experienced in treating a wide range of cancer and blood disorders. Low Country Cancer Care is a proud partner practice of AON and joined the network in early 2022. As a member of the network, the practice receives additional support and resources meant to advance the patient care delivered. Such resources include laboratory services, in-house pathology services and specialty pharmacy, and care coordination support and financial counseling for patients among other benefits.
