The South Georgia State College Hawks held the Andrew College Fighting Tigers to 10 points in the first 20 minutes Wednesday night en route to a 72-45 win, stretching SGSC’s conference winning streak to three games.

The Hawks (12-5, 3-0) were helped by a balanced scoring attack with four players finishing in double figures. Kyric Davis led SGSC with 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Jo Jo Bell had 15 points and six rebounds, followed by Yannis Woods with 12 points and nine rebounds. Lay Davis rounded out the top scorers with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

SGSC’s defense held Andrew College to 10 percent shooting in the first half. The Tigers made one three-pointer (11 percent) in the first 20 minutes and shot 43 percent from the free throw line.

The Hawks forced 27 turnovers for the game, 18 of which were steals.

SGSC travels to Georgia Highlands Saturday and will return to the Douglas Campus Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. to face Gordon State. The next Waycross Campus home game is Saturday, Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. against East Georgia State.
