Robert Alan Britton, 47, of Douglas, has had an eventful week and a half.

According to records from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Britton has been arrested and booked into the Coffee County Jail three times since January 26, 2024.

Records show he was arrested on criminal trespass charges on January 26 around 3:30 a.m. He was arrested again on January 28 at 7 a.m. on a disorderly conduct charge. His third arrest was on February 4 at 9 a.m. for simple battery.

DouglasNow obtained a report for the January 28 incident. According to that report, an officer responded to a Minchew Road address and found an allegedly intoxicated Britton drinking a beer on the front porch. After speaking with others at the residence, the officer learned that family members had locked Britton out of the house because he was drunk and had been yelling and cussing at people in the house. Another officer had been called to the home at 2 a.m. but Britton had not been arrested.

The officer spoke with family members at the home who reported that Britton was worse at 7 a.m. than he had been at 2 a.m. In addition to being verbally abusive, the report states, he had taken off his clothes and walked around everyone in his underwear.

Initially, family members did not want him arrested but eventually changed their minds. Britton was taken to jail for disorderly conduct. He was released and arrested again on February 4, 2024, for simple battery. He is still incarcerated on the simple battery charge.
