A generous and compassionate gesture from CRMC’s Matthew Monroe, a member of the materials management team, led to The BEE Award for the fourth quarter of 2023.

Matthew was nominated by CRMC nurses for his act of kindness. Known for his talent in cutting hair, a skill passed down from his father, Matthew stepped up when nurses sought assistance for a patient in need of a haircut. Despite it being his day off, Matthew graciously offered his time and skills to provide the patient with a much needed haircut free of charge. Caregivers witnessed the gratitude and joy the patient felt, expressing how much it meant to be treated with such compassion. Matthew’s gesture not only improved the patient’s appearance but also uplifted his spirits. Compassion is something that can be passed on to others and this was as testament to that.

CRMC would like to take this opportunity to thank Matthew for this act of kindness and congratulate him and all the BEE Award nominees for the fourth quarter of 2023. CRMC is grateful to have such an incredible team of caregivers dedicated to caring for patients.

CRMC is proud to honor staff members who have been recognized by our patients, patient family members, or co-workers for their outstanding work to assist in our patients’ and visitors’ care. When it comes to quality patient care, it truly takes a team. The BEE Award recognizes the extraordinary work of non-nursing staff at CRMC. This award complements the DAISY Award, which recognizes outstanding service and care by our nursing staff.

All non-nurse members of the Coffee Regional Medical Center staff qualify for The BEE Award. Nominations are gathered each month and awarded every quarter after the BEE Award committee members choose the award recipient. Each honoree receives a certificate that reads: “This award is proudly presented in recognition of going BEE-yond in showing our patients & visitors an Exceptional Experience here at Coffee Regional Medical Center.” Additionally, honorees receive a unique BEE Award pin for their badge, a $50 gift certificate, and a reception with their colleagues featuring freshly made “honey bee” buns as a sweet treat.

If you would like to nominate a Coffee Regional Medical Center non-nursing staff member for The Bee Award, visit  www.CoffeeRegional.org/Bee. If you would like to nominate a CRMC nurse for the Daisy Award, visit www.CoffeeRegional.org/Daisy.
