Lonny Whitley Sr. passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 in Savannah Georgia, at Landmark hospital, following an extended illness. He was born on March 19, 1943 the son of the late Mr. Jesse and Ethel Whitley.

His survivors include: His Beloved Wife; Inez H. Whitley of Nicholls, GA, One Son; Lonny (Sheila) Whitley of Alma, GA, One Daughter; Jeannie Amerson of Savannah, GA, Four Grandchildren; Kyle (Kristie) Whitley, Brayden Amerson, Brock Amerson, and Stephanie (Rusty) Sears, Two Sisters; Sandra Patton and Gertrude Bellanbaum, Two Brothers; Mitchell Whitley, and Carl Whitley, along with several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by; Four Sisters; Laverne Cliett, Nellie Clekner, Betty Jones , and Mary Lee Deen, Three Brothers; David Whitley, Johnny Whitley, and Thomas Whitley, Father; Jesse Whitley, and Mother; Ethel Whitley.

Graveside services will be held Monday, January 8, 2024, at 11:00AM, at Harrell Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Randy McQuaig Officiating and Eulogy being given by his family. Interment will follow at Harrell Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request all donations be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
