State Court Judge Katy Paulk is seeking election for State Court Judge seat. Gov. Brian Kemp appointed her State Court Judge last year to fill the unexpired term of retiring Judge Robert Preston, who had served in the position since 2004. Here is Judge Paulk’s election announcement:
“Judge Katy Peters Paulk is excited to formally announce her campaign to “Keep Judge Katy” State Court Judge of Coffee County. Katy was humbled when Governor Kemp, other elected officials, and so many supporters in this community gave her the opportunity to take the place of the Honorable Robert Preston as Judge of State Court when he retired in 2022. Katy said, “What a privilege it was to work so closely with Judge Preston for the past ten years as his Solicitor for State Court and to get to fill his seat. It is also an honor to be Coffee County’s first woman State Court Judge.”
“With this community’s support, Katy has served Coffee County for the past 10 years as the elected Solicitor for State Court of Coffee County before taking the bench. Also, prior to being the Judge, she worked for 15 years as an Assistant District Attorney for the Waycross Judicial Circuit mainly handling Drug Court which is a rehab program run through the judicial system. Additionally, she served for 10 years as the Solicitor of Douglas Municipal Court.
“Katy lives in Ambrose with her husband Daniel and their children, and they attend Ambrose Christian Church.
“’I promise as your Judge to continue to work hard, be fair, and make tough decisions to protect the rights of ALL citizens of Coffee County. I now ask for your support to continue my efforts to serve this wonderful community as your Judge. I would be grateful for your vote for me, Judge Katy, on the May 21 non-partisan ballot.’
