William Kenneth “Ken” Miller, age 87 of Guyton, Georgia, went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Candler Hospital.
Ken was born to the late Oliver Lafayette Miller and Lannie Davis. Ken was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Charlton Lewis Davis and Sophronia Lewis and his paternal grandparents Oliver “Ollie” Moody Miller and Ocie Annie Bagley.
He attended Douglas High School in Douglas, Georgia and received his GED. Ken served his country enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of seventeen in the Quartermaster Corp and was stationed in Korea and stateside. After his discharge from the army, he was employed by several aerospace corporations including Douglas Aircraft and North American Aviation in CA, Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA for eight years, Grumman America and Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia as a precision plastics tool maker. He worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation for a brief period and did carpentry work for several years.
Ken was a faithful and active member of The Sanctuary, a non-denominational church in Savannah, Georgia. Ken had many interests. His hobbies included coin, gun and die cast model car collecting. He enjoyed woodworking and going to classic car shows with his wife Jackie. He was a talented, self-taught home designer and draftsman. He drafted many blueprints for relatives and friends.
Survivors include: Second wife Jacklyn “Jackie” and first wife Mary Clair; two children, Jeff Miller (Lisa) and Tina Jimmerson (Barry); stepson, Clinton Alvah Watts (Debbie); five grandchildren, Jessica Miller (Ryan), Laura Caro (Pierre), Emily Fleming (Andrew), Taft Jimmerson (Amy Poe); one step granddaughter, Christy Watts; one great grandson, Findley Jimmerson; two half-brothers Kenny and Steve Carlson; one step brother, Haskell Miller; one brother- in-law, Clinton Leroy Hodges (Marty) and many cousins and friends.
The family will receive family and friends at The Sanctuary Church from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023, the funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery, 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023.
