A search of a suspected drug dealer’s property resulted in two arrests and the discovery of suspected illegal drugs, cash, and a gun.
According to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Coffee County Drug Unit searched the property of Joseph Scott Elliott, 39, whom they had heard was involved in the sale of illegal drugs. During the investigation, they also learned that Elliott, a convicted felon, had an active warrant for a probation violation.
During surveillance prior to the search, detectives saw what they believed to be drug transactions taking place at Elliott’s home on Ethel Street. When detectives approached the property, they saw digital scales and pills in a Nissan vehicle. The report also says that officers could smell marijuana coming from another vehicle on the property. Detectives searched both vehicles and found suspected methamphetamine and marijuana along with the scale. The vehicles were both registered to Kayucca Perry, 33, Elliott’s girlfriend.
Elliott was arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail. After he arrived, he told detectives that inside the house were more drugs and cash. They returned and searched the home. During the search, they discovered more drug related objects, money, and a gun, according to the report.
Elliott was hit with charges related to possession of illegal drugs, possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute, illegal gun possession, and a probation violation. He remains in the Coffee County Jail.
Perry was also arrested and charged with possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute and a firearms charge. She was jailed and later released.
