Born in Douglas, Georgia on August 23, 1982, Matthew Christopher Paulk (Matt) died on March 5, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.

“6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

2nd Timothy 6-8

Matt leaves behind his beloved wife, Victoria Layne Paulk of Broxton, Georgia, and his children Aubrey Elijah Paulk, Hannah-Rose McCurry, and Lauren Elizabeth (Ellie) Paulk, along with stepson Ashyr Lane Burch. Along with his wife, children, and parents – Don Ray and Karen Paulk of Douglas, Georgia, Matthew will be forever loved and missed by his older sisters Angela, Jenny, and Kari Beth Paulk and his nephews Conner and Caleb Cox.

In addition to his direct family, Matt is survived by his grandmother Clara Quinkert, 11 uncles and 11 aunts including Jerry & Betty Paulk; Doyle & Brenda Paulk; Mike & Terry Quinkert; Kathy Quinkert; Tim & Val Quinkert, Tom & Portia Quinkert, Pat & Leigh Quinkert, Dennis & Rachel Quinkert, Danny & Trish Quinkert, Greg & Stacy Quinkert, Chris Quinkert (Matt’s godfather) and Kelly & Scott Hornung. Matt’s extended family includes many cousins across Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, and California and overseas.

Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Aubrey and Bessie Paulk and his maternal grandfather Pat Quinkert.

“Caring son, Protective brother, Beloved husband, Loving father, Loyal friend, and a Devoted child of God.”

Visitation with family will be held Friday April 5, 2024 from 6pm until 9pm at Sims Funeral Home with rosary at 7pm. A memorial church service will be held at Deberry Baptist Church in Broxton on Saturday April 6, 2024 at 11am with Reverend Jeremy Cox and Father Paul O’Connell officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Anthony Walden, Josh Ivey, Bryson Steverson, Aubrey Paulk, and Jim Batten.

If you want to honor Matt’s memory with a donation, then it’s the family’s wish that contributions in Matthew’s memory be made to one of the following non-profit organizations and/or to a fund to support his family:

The Christian Family Center, an addiction treatment center in Soperton, Georgia
The Okefenokee Swamp (please choose to donate ‘in memory of Matthew Paulk’) https://okeswamp.org/give/
A financial trust has been established to support Matt’s direct family members. Those details may be found on this page and/or via any of his family.

“God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.
Amen.”

Sims Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
