After a close game against Toombs on Friday night, the Coffee Trojans decided not to leave their next game to chance. Monday, they jumped out early and never let up against the Bacon County Red Raiders in Alma. The Trojans won 17-0 in four innings to improve to 9-1.

Senior Payton Bryant led the way for Coffee on the mound and at the plate. He threw a 66-pitch one-hit complete game with three strikeouts and three walks.

Offensively, Bryant was 2-2 with two walks, four RBI, and one run scored. He also hit his second home run of the year, a three-run shot in the first inning.

The Trojans scored in every inning – three in the first, four in the second, and five each in the third and fourth. Michael Strickland was 2-3 with a walk and four runs scored. Cannon Jones was 2-3 with three runs scored and two RBI. Zae Smith had two hits, two runs scored, and three RBI.

Coffee has a rematch tomorrow at 6 p.m. at home against the Brantley County Herons. Last week, the Herons handed the Trojans their only defeat of the season in Brantley County. The game was originally scheduled for this afternoon but has been moved due to weather.
