Mr. Edward Colon Stapleton, age 79, of Douglas, Georgia passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his residence on Wednesday morning, March 13, 2024. Mr. Stapleton was born on October 31, 1944 in Ambrose, Georgia to the late Edward Stapleton and the late Annie Purvis Stapleton. A lifelong resident of Coffee, County, Mr. Stapleton made his career in the liquid petroleum fuel industry, delivering LP gas for Brantley Propane Gas Company for over 40 years. He also worked at various times with Douglas Asphalt, Ferrell Gas Company and Suburban Propane Company. Mr. Stapleton was a longstanding member of Rocky Pond Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Dale Stapleton, one brother, Lamar Stapleton and one sister, Shelba Jean Yarberry.

Mr. Stapleton is survived by one daughter, Brenda Dale (Gary) Stapleton Wilkinson of Douglas, Georgia; one sister: Laverne (Larry) Bennett of Douglas, Georgia; 2 grandchildren Jonathon Kyle (Monica) Wilkinson of Douglas, Georgia and Courtney W. (Drake) Corbitt of Douglas, Georgia; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, March 15, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home. Mr. Stapleton’s funeral will be held Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Rocky Pond Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Stone officiating. The interment will follow in Rocky Pond Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Kyle Wilkinson, Drake Corbitt, Jacob Jenks, Damon Jenks, E. C. Yarberry, and Buddy Herrington.

Condolences may be left for the family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.
