Mondays can be difficult when things go well. When they don’t, they’re even worse. It’s safe to say that things didn’t go particularly well at lot 15 of 6659 Georgia Highway 32 West on Monday, March 11, 2024.

A deputy with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an assault at the above location around 6:20 p.m. When he arrived, he discovered that none of the individuals at the location spoke English. He called a Douglas police officer to come to the scene to translate.

When the police officer arrived, two witnesses stated that there had been an argument with Lester Perez, 19, who lived at lot 4. According to the incident report, the witnesses said that Perez was drunk. During the argument, Perez threw a bottle at one of the witnesses. The bottle missed, the report says, and broke a kitchen window. Then Perez grabbed a broken beer bottle and began chasing one of the witnesses around the home in an attempt “to stab or cut him.” The translating officer asked Perez his side of the story, the report states, but Perez said he couldn’t remember. The report also says that Perez smelled of alcohol and appeared intoxicated.

Perez was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Coffee County Jail. He has since been released.
