A shoplifting call at Marshalls ended up with a suspect in jail on a fugitive from justice charge out of Nebraska.

According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, on March 6, 2024, just before noon, a call came in regarding a possible shoplifting incident at Marshalls. The officer had a description of the suspect and while traveling to Marshalls saw the individual walking north on Peterson Avenue near Krystal.

The officer stopped the suspect, who was identified as Volvick Dubrenat, 33, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The report states that Dubrenat had a Marshalls bag “full of items.” He said that everything in the bag belonged to Marshalls except for two bottles of cologne, according to the report. The officer detained Dubrenat and went to Marshalls. There, employees stated that they hadn’t reported a shoplifting incident. However, during the investigation, the officer learned that Dubrenat had an active warrant out of Dodge County, Nebraska. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail on the fugitive from justice warrant. He remains incarcerated at the jail.
