Detectives from the Coffee County Drug Unit served a search warrant at a McDonald Road address on March 4, 2024, and arrested two individuals on a variety of illegal drug charges.
When officers arrived, they found four people inside the home. They searched the residence and found quantities of suspected cocaine, marijuana, MDMA tablets, more pills, and a handgun. After the search and interviewing the four suspects, officers charged Kenchisa Tereaki Carter, 48, of Douglas, and Brandon Shakeel Carter-Mitchell, 31, of Douglas.
Kenchisa Carter was charged with possession of a Schedule I or Schedule II Controlled Substance with intent to distribute; trafficking cocaine, marijuana, or methamphetamine; two counts of manufacture or possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute; possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon first offender.
The two others in the home were placed on a 48 hour hold for violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act but later were released without being charged.
Brandon Carter-Mitchell was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute; possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime; possession of marijuana; possession of cocaine; and harassing phone calls.
Both remain jailed.
