Dorothy Mae Taylor, age 85, of Douglas, Georgia passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024 surrounded by her family. Ms. Taylor was born November 13, 1938 in Ambrose, Georgia to the late Albert Purvis and the late Henrietta Cribb Purvis. She made her career caring for children in her home for many years. Ms. Taylor loved her family and her church family, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior and was an active member of College Avenue Baptist Church. She loved to sing gospel music, and enjoyed listening to the radio, going out to eat and growing flowers. Along with her parents, Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by her son, Albert Taylor; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Ms. Taylor is survived by her daughter, Linda Taylor of Douglas, Georgia; 4 grandchildren: Hayle Davenport, Amanda Taylor, Billy Lee Taylor, Jr., Kevin Taylor; 1 great grandson, Koen Davenport; 2 sons: Roy Lee Taylor and Billy Lee Taylor Sr.

Ms. Taylor’s family will receive friends Friday afternoon, March 29, 2024 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM. Memorialization will be by cremation and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
