Deborah Adams Merritt Barrett , age 71, of Douglas, GA, passed away peacefully at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, GA, on Sunday, March 31st, 2024, following an extended illness. She was born on May 29th, 1952 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney and Colleen Adams.

She was a retired school teacher with the coffee county school system for many years. She helped to teach the young minds of so many children and prepare them for a bright future. She taught at West Green Elementary, Eastside Elementary, Coffee Junior High, and Citizens Christian Academy. She loved her students and always wanted the best for them. Throughout the years she re-connected with her students, they almost always commented on how much they loved her and enjoyed being in her class. She took pride in her classroom and her teaching environment.

Her survivors include; Husband; David Steve Barrett of Dublin, GA, One Son; Caleb (Joyanna) Barrett of Broxton, GA, One Sister; Donna Adams of Douglas, GA, One Brother; Sid (Sherri) Adams of Douglas, GA, Special Friends; Faye Adams and Gina Guthrie Hall, along with several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by; One Daughter; Lea Merritt, Father; Sidney Adams, and Mother; Colleen Adams.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, from 1:00PM until 2:00PM.

Graveside services will be held at Satilla Memorial Gardens on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at 2:00PM, with Rev. Jimbo Steed officiating. Interment will follow at Satilla Memorial Gardens.

Active Pallbearers will include; Ricky Barrett, Jon Barrett, Marque Vickers, Jerome Adams, Jacob Barrett and Jonathan Barrett.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
