Blake Bryant threw six innings of two-hit shutout baseball and third baseman Jonathan Rutland was 2-2 with two runs scored, two walks, and three RBI in the CCA Patriots’ 8-0 win over the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors Friday afternoon in Douglas.
The Patriots scored early and often, plating a run in the first, three in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth, and two in the fifth to keep the Warriors on their heels. Jackson Knight also had two hits and Case Snipes drove in two more for CCA.
Bryant struck out 13 Warriors during his six innings. Thomas Gentry pitched the seventh and didn’t allow a base runner while striking out two.
The Patriots are 10-5 on the season and have four home games next week — two each on Tuesday and Friday. Tuesday, CCA faces the East Carter Raiders at 10:30 a.m. then they play the Dixie Greyhounds at 1 p.m. Friday, the Patriots square off against the Fleming County Panthers at 10:30 a.m. At 1 p.m., they play East Carter again.
