Two Trojans win individual championships at region track meet

Senior Larenzo Harvey (shot put) and freshman Kahariyona White (300 meter hurdles) won individual region championships at the region track meet at Bradwell Institute on April 17. As a team, the Trojans scored 67.5 points for the meet. The Lady Trojans scored 80 points to finish fifth overall. Both teams will travel to Sectionals in Evans. Greenbrier High School will host Region 1, 4, 6 and 8 on May 4, 2024. Both teams will carry a combined team of 17 individuals to compete in eleven events. 

Harvey threw the shot put 46 feet and 7 inches while White won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.56 seconds.

Region runners up scored 8 team points: White also ran an impressive 16.37 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles.  Freshman Kaloni Styles ran 49.02 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles. 

Third place earned 6 points for the team total: The Lady Trojan team of Ensley Crawford, Caroline Crawford, Regina “Gigi” Lewis, and Josie Lott set a new school record with a time of 11 minutes and 20.17 seconds. The old record was set by Morgan Adams, Ansley Myers, Brayden Bailey, and Kate Merritt in 2021 with a time of 11 minutes and 25.65 seconds. Sophomore Kenyon Livingston sprinted to 15.77 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles. Junior Travis Adams ran the 200 meter dash in 22.59 seconds. The Trojan 4×200 meter relay team of KJ DeBruce, Jaquan Harrison, Tyriq Edwards, and Travis Adams ran 1 minute and 33.11 seconds. 

Fourth place earned 5 points for the team total: The Lady Trojan 4×200 meter relay team of Iyani Johnson, Amaryi Johnson, Kaloni Styles, and White ran a 1 minute and 47.03 seconds for a new school record. The old record was established last year with Breanna Griffin, Janiya Brown, and Ja’Maria Harvey was 1 minute 48.80 seconds in 2023. Caroline Crawford ran 6 minutes and 3.28 seconds in the 1600 meter run. Sophomore Josie Lott ran the 3200 meter run in 13 minutes and 6.89 seconds. The Trojan 4×400 meter team of Andre Brewton, Tyler Dowling, Mark White, and James Jarrard ran 3 minutes and 43.72 seconds. 

Fifth place earned 4 points the team total and is an alternate for Region 1: Tyrese Hansley threw 121 feet and 1 inch in the discus. Freshman Sareia Littles threw her discus 77 feet and 7 inches. Ensley Crawford ran 6 minutes and 5.51 seconds in the 1600 meter run. Senior Will Bagwell ran 5 minutes and 2.63 seconds in the 1600 meter run. Freshman Ella Edge ran the 400 meter dash in 1 minute and 8.28 seconds. Travis Adams broke into the sub 11 second club running 10.98 seconds in the 100 meter dash. Kenyon Livingston ran 44.20 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles. 

Six place earned 3 team points: Amaryi Williams cleared 4 feet and 2 inches in the high jump. Carrdreal “Cinnamon” Pearson cleared 15 feet and 4.75 inches in the long jump. Junior Jayden Hancock cleared 41 feet and 4 inches in the triple jump. The boys 4×800 meter relay team of Brian Stafford, Liam LeBrocq, Dillon Yarberry, and Will Bagwell with a time of 9 minutes and 55.96 seconds. The Trojan 4×100 meter relay team of Tyriq Edwards, Travis Adams, KJ DeBruce, and Jaquan Harrison ran 53.03 seconds. The Lady Trojans ran 45.25 seconds with team members Denja Young, L’Kia Wilson, Bre Griffin, and Iyani Johnson. Sophomore Caroline Crawford ran 2 minutes and 47.54 seconds in the 800 meter run. Senior Jerrod Grady ran 45.03 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles.  

Seventh place scored 2 points for the team total: Freshman Kaloni Styles ran the 100 meter hurdles in 18.57 seconds. Senior Iyani Johnson competed in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.76 seconds. Will Bagwell ran 10 minutes and 55.50 seconds in the 3200 meter run.

Eighth place scored one point for the team total: Tico Smith’s discus throw cleared 93 feet and 3 inches. Josiah McRae tied for eighth place. Sareia Littles threw the shot put for 28 feet and 3 inches. Liam LeBrocq ran 5 minutes and 24.76 seconds in the 1600 meter run. Anna Lee Osteen ran the 400 meter dash in 1 minute and 11.84 seconds. Sophomore Ensley Crawford ran a 2 minutes and 47.54 seconds 800 meter dash. Liam LeBrocq ran 11 minutes 16.29 seconds in the 3200 meter run.
