DPD officers arrest 17-year-old in Saturday’s non-fatal shooting

A 17-year-old male has been arrested for shooting a 17-year-old female in the throat, according to officials with the Douglas Police Department. They have released the following statement:

On June 8, 2024, at approximately 2:57 p.m., officers with the Douglas Police Department were dispatched to the Jamestown Drive area in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, identified as a 17-year-old female, who had been shot in the throat. Immediate medical attention was administered and the victim was transported by EMS to Coffee Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Following an immediate investigation and collaboration with the community, law enforcement officers were able to identify and apprehend a 17-year-old male suspect in connection with the shooting. The suspect is currently in custody and will be facing appropriate charges.
