Johnny Jackson White, 57, of Douglas, remains in the Coffee County Jail on aggravated assault (family violence) charges after a domestic dispute during which he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at his wife and told her that he would “f’ing kill” her.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, deputies responded to an assault call. The victim stated that her husband, White, had hit her multiple times, threatened her, and pulled a gun on her. The argument started around 10:30 that morning when the victim went to her daughter’s home and didn’t tell White she was leaving. White wanted her to get gas for their lawnmower while she was gone, the report says. The victim attempted to calm the situation by telling White that she would leave again to get gas.
Both the victim and White left and went to different places. Later, the victim returned home and saw that White had gotten angrier. He had also been drinking, the report says. The argument continued and, the report states, White picked up a shotgun, pointed at the victim’s stomach, and told her he would kill her. In the report, the victim stated that she knew the gun was loaded so she tried to wrestle it from his hands. In the process, she suffered several cuts to both forearms and her right hand. She eventually fled and ran into the bathroom. The report says that White followed her then he punched her in the back of the head and slapped her before leaving her in the bathroom. The victim then fled the home and drove herself to Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Officers went to White’s home and found him along with the shotgun. White was charged with aggravated assault (family violence) and transported to the Coffee County Jail, where he remains.
