Terrence Warren, 30, of Douglas, was arrested and later released from jail after he allegedly took a friend’s car without permission the lied to police and resisted arrest, according to a report from the Douglas Police Department.
The report states that on June 12, 2024, Warren took the keys to a friend’s car and left Georgian Woods Apartments to go to work. The victim stated that she told him not to take her car, the report says. The officer went to Warren’s work but he had left before the officer arrived. The officer then received a call that Warren was back at the apartment complex. He returned and spoke to Warren, who claimed his name was Warren Johnson, according to the report. Witnesses at the scene confirmed that he was in fact Terrence Warren.
The officer placed Warren in handcuffs and attempted to put him in the back of his patrol car. The report says that Warren resisted and the officer was unable to get him in the car. The report states that the officer told Warren that if he did not get in the car he would tase him. Warren still refused, the report says, so the officer tased Warren and Warren fell to the floorboard of the car. The officer tried to lift Warren into the back seat but was unable to do so. According to the report, he asked Warren to lift himself up so he could shut the door. The report says that Warren refused then removed one of the taser prongs so the officer couldn’t tase him again. The officer told Warren he would drive stun him with the taser if he didn’t comply. Warren responded by kicking the door and placing his feet where the officer couldn’t close the door. The officer drive stunned Warren, which allowed him to finally close the door.
On the way to the Coffee County Jail, the report says that Warren repeatedly kicked the cage in the car and hit it with his head. He also was able to rip the cable out of the rear-facing camera in the car even though he was handcuffed, the report states.
Once at the jail, Warren went with jailers without incident. He was charged with theft by taking, interference with government property, obstruction, and giving false name and information to police. He has since been released.
