Around 9:30 a.m. on July 9, 2024, officers responded to a shots fired call at Georgian Woods Apartments. When they arrived, however, they found out it was a false alarm.

According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, officers arrived on the scene and didn’t notice anything out of the way. A maintenance crew told police that they were remodeling an apartment. Just before they got there, an individual identified as Markease Robinson, 32, ran out of the apartment yelling that someone was shooting at him. The workers said that no one was supposed to be in the apartment.

Officers went inside and found Robinson. The report says that Robinson appeared to be under the influence of some kind of drug. According to the report, he kept yelling that someone was shooting at him but there was no one else around. Officers also learned that the day before, Robinson had allegedly made a similar call to 911.

Robinson was arrested and charged with misuse of 911. He was jailed and released. On July 19, he was re-arrested when his bondsman came off his bond. He has since been released a second time.
