Bacon County authorities have arrested Rocky Dewayne Oglesby, 32, of Alma, in connection with the murder of Breauna Bello, 22, of Alma. Bello was shot and killed Saturday, July 27, 2024, just before 6 a.m. as she and her boyfriend were riding down Copper Lake Road.
According to a press release from the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office, Bello’s boyfriend placed the 911 call and said that they were riding on Copper Lake Road and someone shot at their vehicle. A bullet struck Bello and she was found deceased when authorities and EMS arrived. Bacon County Sheriff Andy Batten requested that the GBI assist with the investigation. After following a number of leads and interviewing multiple individuals, agents and officers arrested Oglesby on Monday afternoon. He was charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault (two counts), Felony Possession of a Firearm or Knife during the Commission of a Crime, and Discharge of a Firearm on or near Public Highway.
This case is still active and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Batten would like to commend the agents with the Region 4 Georgia Bureau of Investigation Office, the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office, and the CSU Investigation team for their efforts in investigating this case. In just over 56 hours from the call, they had developed enough evidence to make an arrest. Their dedication and unwavering efforts to resolve this case speak volumes about them as individuals and as a team.
