Douglas City Clerk Wynetta Bolder has been selected by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA)
Board of Directors to serve on the Children and Youth Advisory Council for the 2024-2025 period. The Children and Youth Advisory Council was established in 2019 to support municipal officials in Georgia and across the country. These officials have increasingly acknowledged that investing in children and youth is crucial for a city’s quality of life and future economic prosperity. There is also a growing understanding that city leaders can and should take a key role in uniting various stakeholders to address workforce development and other important issues related to children and youth in their community.

“We congratulate Wynetta for being selected to serve on GMA’s Children and Youth Advisory Council for the 2024-2025 year,” says Mayor Tony Paulk.  “After working for years with the Douglas Mayor’s Youth Council and Douglas-Coffee County Teen Court Program, Mrs. Bolder prioritizes the development of youth in their leadership skills.”

The Children and Youth Advisory Council has the following purposes:

1) Recommending programs, training, research, and other initiatives that can be undertaken by GMA and/or the association’s newly created 501(c)(3), Georgia City Solutions (GCS), to help city officials address the needs of children and youth in their communities.

2) Providing a forum for city officials to explore collaboration opportunities between GMA and GCS with agencies and organizations focused on assisting children and youth.

3) Fostering the exchange of ideas and information on programs that have proven to have a positive impact on children and youth.

4) Proposing necessary legislative policies to the appropriate GMA policy committees to help cities address children and youth issues.
