After five straight rainout games, the CCA Lady Patriots finally took the field again Monday afternoon on the road against Fullington Academy. CCA continued its winning ways, improving to 2-0 on the season with a 7-5 win.

The Lady Patriots never trailed in the contest. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second then added two more runs in the third and fourth innings. CCA plated their final run in the fifth to take a 7-3 advantage. Fullington attempted a comeback in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two to narrow the gap to 7-5. However, they were unable to get any closer.

Emy Lowery led the way offensively for CCA with three hits, an RBI, and a run. Brilynn Waldron had two hits, two runs, and one RBI. Gracie Giddens, Emma Gourley and Arabelle Roberts also had two hits for the Lady Patriots. Lowery and Giddens recorded the only extra base hits for CCA, both of which were doubles. Waldron also stole four bases.

Giddens recorded the win with two innings of work. She gave up two runs (both earned), walked three, and struck out two. Peighton Harper threw three innings and Lowery picked up the save in the final two innings.

The Lady Patriots are 2-0 on the season and face Vidalia Heritage Academy today in their home opener at 4 p.m.
