The Coffee Lady Trojans improved to 4-1 Tuesday afternoon with a 9-4 defeat of the Veterans High Warhawks at Faircloth Field in Douglas. The win also gave Coffee a 1-0 mark in region play.

The Warhawks never gave the Lady Trojans any problems. Coffee scored two in the first, five in the second, and two in the fourth. Veterans plated four in the fourth but couldn’t manage any more offense.

Third baseman Allie Pridgen led the way for the Lady Trojans at the plate. She was 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Right fielder Ella Edge was 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Pridgen and catcher Ella Winters doubled while Edge tripled.

Erin Robinson went the distance for the Lady Trojans. She gave up four runs (zero earned) on four hits. She struck out 11 and walked two.

Coffee has also defeated Lanier 7-5 and Jones County twice (4-2 and 8-2). Their lone loss came courtesy of Appling County 3-0. University of Georgia commit Presley Harrison no-hit the Lady Trojans in a 93-pitch performance.

Coffee will face Veterans again in a double-header on the road on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
