At this month’s Veterans Park Committee Meeting, the Committee presented a $250 check to Wreaths Across America. Ed Coleman, Veterans Park Committee Chair, presented the check to Debra Woods, Commander American Legion Post 515. Others present were Jerome Loving, American Legion Post 515 and Coffee County Wreaths Across America Coordinator, and Dr Carl McDonald, Veterans Park Committee Vice Chair.

On December 14, more than two million veterans’ wreaths will be placed across local, national and military cemeteries as well as veterans’ memorials and historic sites. Watch for wreaths to be placed at the Fallen Soldier Statue and 63rd Flying Training Detachment Memorial at the Veterans Park. The Committee will also place a wreath at the Charles Loring Memorial at the Cadet Park on the WWII Flight Training Base. Construction of the memorial is due completion by November.

Last year, over 3,000 veterans at 87 cemeteries and locations in and around Douglas and Coffee County received a wreath. To sponsor a wreath or donate, make your check payable to and mail to American Legion Post 515, Inc. P.O. Box 2094 Douglas, GA. 31534.
