Sometimes the nature of an incident changes dramatically once officers arrive on the scene and uncover the details. According to an incident report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, that’s exactly what happened around 8:30 p.m. on August 27, 2024. Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with the complainant, who said that she wanted a couple living in a camper on their land to move. Things just got crazier from there.
The complainant stated that one of the residents of the camper, a 14-year-old juvenile, had disrespected her. As a result, she wanted the family gone. The story, however, was much more complicated than that.
Initially, one of the responding officers told the complainant that because her family had allowed the other family to move on their land, they would have to go through the eviction process to have them removed. Then the details came out.
While the officer was speaking to the complainant, one of the residents of the camper came out. She said that the complainant’s husband, Silas Lott Jr., 43, had chased her son, the 14-year-old, with a gun. During the chase, she said that Lott fired a shot in the air. She had video to support her claims. Multiple people on the scene reported that Lott had been drinking, the report says.
The investigation also revealed that Lott had told another juvenile to chase down the 14-year-old and get him off the property. According to the report, Lott pointed his gun at the second juvenile and said if he didn’t get the 14-year-old, Lott would shoot him. The second juvenile gave chase but purposely let the 14-year-old get away, the report says.
When the second juvenile came back to Lott, the report says Lott was pointing the gun at Greggory Chrismer, 39, and threatening to kill him if he didn’t get off the property. The second juvenile wrestled the gun away from Lott and secured it inside the Lotts’ home. Officers seized the gun, a SCCY 9mm handgun.
The report says that Lott admitted to chasing the 14-year-old and firing a shot in the air. In the report, Lott said that his wife would not be disrespected. Lott, however, denied pointing the gun at anyone else or firing directly at someone.
Lott was arrested and charged with reckless conduct, two counts of terroristic threats, and two counts of pointing a gun at another person. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and later released. No one was injured in the incident.
