Former Coffee Trojans head football coach Robby Pruitt won his 400th game on Monday, October 1, 2024, when his Williston (Florida) Red Devils defeated Ocala Trinity Catholic 38-7. The game had been moved to Monday night because of Hurricane Helene.
Coach Pruitt won seven state titles in Florida before he came to Georgia in 2000 to coach the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricanes. He led the Fitzgerald program from 2000-2002 and again from 2004-2011. During his time with the Purple Hurricanes, he went 120-21-1, winning seven region championships and finishing as state runner-up once (a 6-0 loss to Swainsboro in 2000).
In 2003, he coached at Warner Robins and posted a 6-4 record.
Pruitt came to Coffee in 2012 and stayed until 2021. Under his leadership, the Trojans enjoyed a level of success the program had not previously experienced. He went 83-38, won a region championship, and finished as state runner-up to Lee County in 2017 (a 28-21 overtime loss). It was the first time Coffee had advanced to the state finals.
Overall, Coach Pruitt posted a 209-63-1 record in Georgia.
Since leaving Coffee for Williston, Coach Pruitt has transformed the Red Devils from one of Florida’s worst teams into a playoff-caliber program. The year before Pruitt arrived, Williston was 1-8. The Red Devils went 10-1 in Pruitt’s first year. Then, last season, they went 11-1. In 2024, Williston is 4-2. Since defeating Ocala Trinity Catholic, the Red Devils beat Belleview 36-6 on October 4 for Coach Pruitt’s 401st win.
Coach Pruitt was inducted into the FHSAA Hall of Fame in 2000.
