The CCA Lady Patriots ran into a buzzsaw Thursday afternoon in Lyons against the Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders. After winning three games this week by a combined score of 44-0, the Lady Patriots fell to the Crusaders 11-3 in six innings. The game was the regular season finale.

CCA never really had a lead in the game. The Lady Patriots did score one run in the top of the first but the Crusaders took the lead in the bottom of the frame with two runs of the their own. After that, they never looked back.

CCA scored two in the top of the fifth when Brilynn Waldron hit a two-out double that scored Madi Rucker and Abrah Harris. That narrowed the Crusader’s lead to 7-3, a manageable advantage given the way the Lady Patriots can score runs. However, that was all CCA would get while Robert Toombs scored three in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the bottom of the sixth to win 11-3.

The Lady Patriots finish the season with a 17-4 record and enter the state tournament as one of the top teams in Class A. The tournament begins Thursday in Columbus.
