The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the grand opening of Hospice Care Options’ new Douglas office with an emotional and inspiring ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, November 8, 2024. A poignant event, the gathering highlighted the compassionate commitment of Hospice Care Options, a beloved organization that has served central and south Georgia since 1997. Founded by Georgia pharmacist Freddie Dwozan, Hospice Care Options has made a profound impact in Coffee County, and its establishment of a dedicated office in Douglas reflects its deepened dedication to the community.

Chelsea Graham, Member Relations Director of the Chamber, welcomed attendees and shared a heartwarming overview of the Chamber’s enduring relationship with Hospice Care Options. The ceremony continued with Chaplain Ike Thomas, who gave a heartfelt tribute to the staff’s extraordinary work in hospice and palliative care, followed by a moving prayer that captured the spirit of Hospice Care Options’ mission.

City of Douglas Mayor Tony Paulk spoke next, commending the selflessness and dedication of hospice caregivers who serve families with compassion and empathy during some of life’s most challenging moments. His words underscored the essential role these caregivers play in the community.

The ceremony’s keynote came from Freddie Dwozan, founder of Hospice Care Options, who delivered a powerful message of gratitude to his staff, the Coffee County community, and the families they serve. He spoke of stewardship as the guiding principle behind his calling, reminding all present of the sacred duty of providing loving support to patients and their families.

Administrator Tia Pridgen closed the ceremony with a message of hope and dedication to the community. Following her remarks, the crowd gathered outside to cut the ribbon and formally welcome Hospice Care Options to Douglas.

Located at 1202 Ocilla Road, across from Coffee Regional Medical Center, Hospice Care Options offers full-time hospice and palliative care staff, in partnership with Coffee Regional Medical Center to serve its patients, including specialized IV therapy just next door. The Douglas location is proud to have Coffee County native, Abigail Miller, M.D. on staff as their Medical Director.

With its new location in Douglas, Hospice Care Options strengthens its commitment to providing care, compassion, and support to families in Coffee County and beyond.
