Demetrius Seshawn Eady, 30, of Douglas, was arrested on two charges after he allegedly refused to speak to Douglas police officers who attempted to talk to him while he was walking on North Pearl Avenue near Alunza Street at 2 a.m. on December 13, 2024. During the investigation, officers discovered that Eady was a suspect wanted in connection to an aggravated assault that took place in November, according to a report from the Douglas Police Department.

The report says that an officer saw Eady walking on North Pearl. The officer attempted to talk to Eady but Eady wouldn’t give the officer his name or address. Then, the report says, Eady moved to the right side of the road. According to the report, Georgia law states that anyone walking on a roadway that doesn’t have a sidewalk must walk on the left side of the road. There is no sidewalk on that section of North Pearl so, the report states, the officer told Eady that he was in violation of state law and he was required to give the officer his name upon request. The report says that Eady still wouldn’t comply.

Two other officers arrived on the scene and the three detained Eady. The report says that Eady resisted. One of the officers found a gun inside Eady’s pants, which turned out to be an air soft gun. Officers also found a glass pipe with white residue, according to the report.

Even after he was in handcuffs, Eady wouldn’t identify himself, according to the report. Finally, he did and that’s when officers realized he was a suspect in the November aggravated assault. Eady was given a citation for resisting officers. He was also charged with aggravated assault in connection with the November incident. He remains in the Coffee County Jail.
