A 43-year-old who allegedly violated an out-of-county protection order was arrested on aggravated stalking and other charges after he showed up at the victim’s home and began beating on the door, according to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. After deputies showed up, he allegedly fled then swallowed a quantity of methamphetamine.

On December 6, 2024, shortly after 9 a.m., officers responded to a Chancellor Road address in response to a domestic incident. The report states that the suspect, identified as William Chauncey, 43, of Douglas, came to the residence and started beating on the door, to the point that he busted one of the door panels out. The victim stated that she told Chauncey her child was at the home. He calmed down a little after learning that, the report says. However, he remained on the deck of the home with several other individuals.

The victim showed officers a protection order from Treutlen County that is effective from November 7, 2024 to November 6, 2025.

When deputies arrived, the report says that Chauncey ran into a wooded area. Officers called in a Department of Corrections tracking dog to find Chauncey. After trailing him for a mile to a mile and a half, the report says the dog found Chauncey. At the Coffee County Jail, Chauncey told officers he had swallowed an eight ball of methamphetamine. He was then transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center and, later, back to the jail.

Chauncey was charged with aggravated stalking, criminal trespass – family violence, and two probation violations.
