On January 6, 2025, officers responded to a call at the BP station located at 2595 US Highway 221 North in Douglas after an individual stated he had been physically assaulted by 39-year-old Roderick Glover.
According to a statement given to deputies, the altercation began during a ride from Adel, when a verbal dispute erupted between the complainant and Glover. After some physical contact between the two, the complainant stated that Glover then choked the complainant until the driver of the vehicle intervened by stopping the vehicle to de-escalate the situation. Out of fear the complainant pulled out a pocketknife, which brought the confrontation to an end. After exiting the vehicle, the complainant walked to the BP station.
As officers conducted interviews, the driver of the vehicle arrived at the scene and clarified that they had taken Glover to collect his belongings and to leave the residence. Law enforcement then proceeded to the residence on Hillside Drive, where Glover was still in the process of gathering his items. During their interaction, Glover admitted to having choked the complainant, which led to his arrest for aggravated assault.
Under Georgia law, aggravated assault without a weapon is classified as a felony, with potential penalties of up to 20 years in prison, depending on the specifics of the case. Glover is currently in custody at the Coffee County Law Enforcement Center.
