The much-anticipated Viking Clash VEX Robotics Tournament held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Lowndes High School in Valdosta proved to be an exhilarating display of innovation, teamwork, and engineering excellence. Teams from across the region and state competed in this high-stakes event, showcasing the future of STEM and robotics. This was an end-of-the-season tournament, so some high-quality teams were competing for a last-chance invite to the VEX Robotics world qualifier.
Twenty-five teams competed in the all-day tournament with Coffee High Robotics entering three robots. Two of the three CHS teams finished strong in a very competitive tournament with the team of Sebastian Hickerson and Nathaniel Parkerson garnering a 9th place and the team of Jolston Dean and Clemente Castro finishing 12th. It was a tremendous achievement because all of the CHS team members were underclassmen and collaborated well in a tense competition.
The tournament’s success highlights the importance of hands-on learning and collaborative problem-solving in STEM disciplines. As the season draws to a close, the focus now shifts to preparing for the next challenge as these talented students continue their journey toward building the future of robotics.
The Coffee High Technology Student Association and the VEX Robotics teams would like to extend a thank you to the following sponsors for the support needed to travel and compete at various locations: Eagle Lake Bone Pickers, Three Pines Leasing, Colony Bank, Rapid Lube, Pilgrims Pride, FNBCC, Chik-Fil-A, Bad Ash Motors, Randa Hardee, Rodney Ragsdale , Antonio Gomez, Renan De Amorim, and Corey Carver.
