The Coffee Middle School Trojans picked up two big wins last week against Pine Grove and Valdosta.
Conley McDaniel drove in four runs on two hits to lead Coffee A Team past Pine Grove 16-1 on Tuesday. McDaniel hit a home run to center field in the first inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the second inning, scoring one. The Trojans scored ten runs in the first inning on the way to victory.
Jonah Squires singled, scoring one run, Ryder Elston grounded out, scoring two runs, Peyton Adams singled, scoring one run, Cole Deems doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Coffee scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. Adams drew a walk, scoring one run, McDaniel singled, scoring one run, Carver Ricketson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Elston singled, scoring two runs.
Deems began the game for the Trojans. The starter surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Blake Robinson appeared in relief for Coffee. McDaniel, Deems, and Squires each collected two hits for Coffee.
Coffee baseball A-Team easily dispatched the Valdosta Wildcats on Wednesday, 9-3. Valdosta led 2-0 after the top of the first inning, before the Trojans took the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the first, after singles by Conley McDaniel, Carver Ricketson, and Dalton Rish. A double by Cole Deems extended the Coffee’s lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the second inning.
Levi Hoopiiaina earned the win for Coffee. The starter surrendered two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out five and walking three. Rish appeared in relief for the Trojans. Coffee tallied 11 hits in the game. Deems, Peyton Adams, and Rish each collected two hits for the Trojans.
McDaniel and Deems were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Coffee. McDaniel and Hoopiiaina each stole multiple bases for the Trojans as Coffee stole six bases in the game. The Trojans are now 3-2 in conference play.
