The South Georgia State College Hawks outscored the Thomas University Nighthawks (junior varsity squad) 21-6 in a double-header in Thomasville Monday afternoon. SGSC won game one 9-5 and game two 12-1.
In game one, the Hawks trailed 5-3 through four innings. They added two in the fifth and four in the seventh to take a lead they never relinquished. Luke Boone went 1-3 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Jaden Camp had a pair of hits as well. The Hawks sent three pitchers to the mound; Blake Hughes, the third pitcher of the day, earned the win with three innings of work. He gave up one hit, no runs, and two walks.
The scoring started early in game two and never let up. Leftfielder CJ Chalk led off the game with a home run. The Hawks added two more in the inning then opened things up in the second with five runs. They scored two in the fifth and two more in the seventh.
Starter Talon Daignault got the win for SGSC. He went three innings and gave up one hit and no runs. He struck out eight and walked two.
The Hawks are 8-12 on the season and face USC-Salkehatchie today in a double-header at home in a final tilt before the conference schedule begins. The Hawks begin conference play on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, when Georgia Highlands comes to town for a 3 p.m. match-up.
