The Keep Douglas Beautiful Committee held a workshop on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at City Hall. The workshop was aimed at KDB officials and code enforcement personnel and led by 423 Law Enforcement Officer Scott Carroll.
423 Law Enforcement is an organization based in Georgia that provides training for law enforcement officers in environmental law enforcement, including issues related to litter and illegal dumping. The KDB Committee members and Douglas officials learned more about litter laws and other state laws that can help with litter enforcement.
“It is no secret that littering is illegal. However, we see it throughout our neighborhoods,” said Allisa Jackson, KDB President. “Officer Carroll provided us with a detailed understanding of how to cooperate with our local law enforcement and the court system to help eliminate littering and illegal dumping in our community.”
The workshop was funded through a grant from the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation that Keep Douglas Beautiful received to support the local enforcement of Georgia’s Comprehensive Litter Prevention and Abatement Act. Established in 2006, the act enables law enforcement to punish litter offenders with fines and/or community service.
