Eight male and female Coffee weightlifters competed at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio last week. The competition known as the North American Open coincides with the Arnold Sports Festival and is run by USA Weightlifting. The festival is a who’s who in the world of strength including but not limited to weightlifting, powerlifting, bodybuilding, strongman, and much more.
The following lifters competed in the competition:
7th grader Scott Smith finished gold in the Snatch, Clean and Jerk, and Total. He competed in the 36kg, 13 and under division.
9th grader Noah Booth finished bronze in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total. He competed in the 73kg 14-15 division.
7th grader Carmen Gurley finished gold in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total. She competed in the 45kg 14-15 division.
7th grader Lindsay Adkins finished bronze in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total. She competed in the 55kg 13 and under division.
9th grader Reece Robinson finished silver in the snatch and gold in the clean and jerk and total. She competed in the 59kg 14-15 division
9th grader Savannah Adkins finished silver in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total. She competed in the 76+ 14-15 division
12th grader Chloe Merritt finished bronze in the snatch and silver in the clean and jerk and total. She competed in the 59 kg Junior division (18-20 age group)
Coffee Weightlifting’s assistant coach, Dalana Smith, finished 7th in the snatch, 9th in clean and jerk, and 8th overall in the 55kg class in the University Nationals, which was also held at the Arnold. She represented Troy University.
