Two individuals have been arrested and charged cruelty to children in the 1st degree, aggravated battery, felony murder, and malice murder in connection to the death of a four-year-old little girl.
On March 14, 2025, at 7:46 p.m., officers with the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an unresponsive child. The caller said she was on the way to the hospital from her home. EMS responded and intercepted the vehicle at the Enmarket store located on West Liberty Street and South Victory Drive in Lyons. EMS took the child into their care and began life-saving measures while enroute to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia.
Toombs County Sheriff Jordan Kight requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Region 12 office. The investigation led to the arrest of Seth Hunter Brown, 29, and Taylor Marie Hughes, 26, both of Lyons. Hughes is the little girl’s mother. Both were charged with the charges listed above and were taken to the Toombs County Detention Center where they remain.
