A 19-year-old Douglas man was arrested after he allegedly fired multiple shots into his ex-girlfriend’s car, the last shot of which he fired at the car in the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office parking lot, then fled to Coweta County where he was eventually apprehended. No one was injured in the shooting.
According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, on March 10, 2025, at around 1:30 a.m., Marcus Bernard Walker, 19, saw his ex-girlfriend at the Jet Foods store on Bowens Mill Road SW. Two other individuals were in the vehicle with the ex-girlfriend, a male and a female.
The report says that Walker blocked the ex’s vehicle then began beating on the driver’s side of the car. The victim put the car in reverse and backed into Walker’s vehicle. Then she drove around the gas pumps and towards the parking lot’s exit. As she was driving away, the report says that Walker began shooting at the car. The victim said he shot at her three times. The victim headed toward the Law Enforcement Center and Walker followed her. The report says that Walker was trying to run her off the road. When she made it to the LEC, she turned into the parking lot and Walker allegedly fired one more shot at her car. That round struck the passenger’s door, the report says. Walker then fled.
The investigating officer stated that he found three bullet holes in the car – one in the driver’s door, one in the passenger’s door, and one in the rear bumper. A bullet fragment was found in the passenger’s seat as well. The occupants of the victim’s vehicle gave the same story as the victim.
Walker fled the county and went to Coweta County, where authorities there eventually captured him. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the investigation.
Walker was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, criminal damage to property, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was brought back to Coffee County and he remains in the Coffee County Jail.
