Mr. Carl Authur Whitley, age 76, of Nicholls, Georgia, passed away Sunday, evening, March 16, 2025 at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness. 

A lifelong resident of Coffee County, Carl was born March 24, 1948, in Douglas, Georgia to the late Jesse James Whitley and the late Ethel Carver Whitley.  He was a farmer and an active member of First Assembly of God.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alene Smith Whitley of Nicholls, Georgia; 3 children Andy Thomas and wife Myra of Broxton, Georgia, Timothy Whitley and wife Susan of Nicholls, Georgia, Michelle S Joyce and husband William of Nicholls, Georgia; 10 grandchildren: Amanda, Andrew, Karlee, Courtney, Brittany, Taylor, Danielle, Lilly, Emma, and Ellie; 19 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Mitchell Whitley of Douglas, Georgia, 2 sisters: Sandy w. Patten and husband Oscar of Douglas, Georgia, Gertie W. Bellenbaum and husband Fred of Atkinson, Georgia; special family friends, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Tanner and family; along with a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by 1 son, Eddie Thomas; 4 brothers: David Whitley, Tommy Whitley, Lonny Whitley, Johnny Whitley; 4 sisters: Laverne W. Cliett, Nellie W. Pettigo, Betty W. Jones, and Mary Lee W. Deen.

A family gathering to honor Carl will be held at Ricketson Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, March 18, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  Memorialization will be by cremation.

Condolences, kind words and fond memories may be left for Carl’s family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com. 

Carl’s arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc.
