Mr. Ohlen Rudolph Dobbs, age 60, of Douglas, Georgia passed away suddenly Thursday, March 13, 2025 at his residence.
Rudolph, “Rudy” as he was affectionately known to his friends and family, was born May 21, 1964 in Ocilla, Georgia to the late Harmon William Dobbs and the late Annie Mae Johnson Dobbs. He was a truck driver for Griffin Warehouse for a number of years. He was an active member of Westwood Baptist Church. Rudy loved Jesus and demonstrated that love daily. He loved his family deeply and his infectious smile and joyful personality will be forever remembered by all who knew him.
Rudolph is survived by his brother, Randy Dobbs and wife Peggy of Willacoochee, Georgia; his sister, Ruth Dobbs of Mershon, Georgia; 3 step daughters: Alix Troup McGovern and husband Keegan, Kylie Batten Roberson and husband Austin, and Maggie Batten, all of Douglas, Georgia; nieces and nephews: Miranda Maher of Douglas, Georgia, Crystal Maher of Eastman, Georgia, Charlotte Maher of San Antonio, Texas, Miles Maher and wife Amy of Ocilla, Georgia, Ryan Dobbs of Hinesville, Georgia, Chad Dobbs and wife Adrian of Statesboro, Georgia, Damien Dobbs of Hinesville, Georgia, Michael Edwards, Malik Maher, Cataleya Edwards, and Martin Tinajero, all of Douglas, Georgia, Ian Jordan of Ocilla, Georgia, Tristen Valencia and Lynn Brown, both of Eastman, Georgia. Rudy is also survived by his lifelong friend, Bennie Smith, of Douglas, Georgia, and numerous extended family members and friends.
Rudolph’s funeral was held on Monday morning, March 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Westwood Baptist Church, with Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating. A eulogy was given by Tissy Smith. Musical selections included “Go Rest High On That Mountain” from the recorded music of Vince Gill, “If I’ve Got Jesus” rendered by Pam Turk and Tissy Smith with a recorded soundtrack, and “Old Rugged Cross” from the recorded music of Alan Jackson. Interment followed at Purvis Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Miles Maher, Dustin Williamson, Mark Dill, Mark Vickers, Josh Drawdy, and Josh Carver. Honorary pallbearers were the Westwood God Squad and John Coffee.
