Early Sunday morning, a chase through Pearson took place involving an individual who was allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into Ware State Prison. The suspect, identified as Taquez Moore, 44, led officers on a chase that ultimately ended in Tifton.
According to a press release from the Pearson Police Department, around 3 a.m. Sunday, Pearson police were notified that an individual was coming into Pearson with contraband bound for Ware State Prison. The on-duty officer spotted the vehicle, which entered the city limits traveling 118 mph, and attempted to make a traffic stop. According to the report, Moore wouldn’t stop and “went through numerous jurisdictions before crashing out in the city of Tifton due to losing control of the vehicle and crashing into another vehicle.” The report states that Moore attempted to flee on foot but was caught without incident.
Officers found two duffel bags containing numerous duct taped items, including 26 cell phones, 20 Schedule II pills, 246 grams of THC, seven grams of MDMA, a saw and razor blades, two drills, and lighters. Moore also had several outstanding warrants.
“Let me be clear: If you break the law in Pearson and run, we will chase you and we will arrest you,” stated Pearson police chief Tanner Farmer.
Moore was booked on numerous charges and is being held in the Tift County Jail.
