Lawrence Dewayne Merritt, of Broxton, GA, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 29th, 2025. He was born on January 6th, 1956 the son of Mr. Vernon and Mrs. Jessie Lee Hinson Merritt.

His survivors include: his beloved wife; Wanda Merritt of Broxton, GA, three sons; Jason (Pamela) Merritt of Ambrose, GA, Daniel (April) Merritt of Broxton, GA, and Ben (Wendi) Merritt of Athens, GA, one daughter; Candice (Jason) Hester of Broxton, GA, four grandchildren; Grady Hester, Emily Hester, Shelby Hester, and Dustin Merritt, one brother; Roy (Lisa) Merritt of Broxton, GA, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: father; Vernon Merritt, mother; Jessie Lee Hinson Merritt, one son; James Brandon Merritt, and one sister; Etruell McCurry.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025, at Broxton Church of God in Broxton, GA, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. James Merritt and Rev. Joey Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Deberry Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will include: Terry Kight, Shannon Merritt, Daryl Spikes, Grady Hester, Dustin Merritt, and Jason Afaneh.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Church of God of Broxton Members.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
