Multiple law enforcement agencies worked together to stop a suspected drug dealer in Irwin County after a high-speed pursuit. According to a press release from the South Central Drug Task Force (SCDTF), the agency, in collaboration with the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Irwin County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Department of Agriculture Investigative Division, and Ocilla Police Department successfully apprehended the suspect in Ocilla.
The incident began when authorities attempted a routine traffic stop, but the suspect fled at speeds reaching 150 mph. Law enforcement officers pursued the vehicle until a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT maneuver) was successfully executed, bringing the chase to a safe conclusion. Following the arrest, authorities recovered 27 grams of ecstasy from the suspect.
The South Central Drug Task Force extends its gratitude to the Georgia State Patrol, Irwin County Sheriff’s Office, and Ocilla Police Department for their cooperation and expertise in ensuring a swift and safe resolution. While high-speed pursuits present inherent risks, Troopers, Task Force Agents, and Deputies are highly skilled drivers, trained to handle such situations with precision and professionalism.
The SCDTF remains committed to its mission of maintaining a drug-free Irwin County and will continue working diligently to remove illegal substances from the community.
